Technologies

Fork
Fork
Cost250

Decreases Raiden's range by 10, but increases the number of lightning bolts fired per attack from 3 to 5.

Chain
Chain
Cost200

Decreases Raiden's range by 20, the lightning bolts it fires will jump to other enemies within 60 radius after hitting the enemy, dealing 25% damage.

Ionization
Ionization
Cost100

Decreases Raiden's ATK by 70%, but attack will cause an additional damage equal to 50% of the target's current HP.

Range Enhancement

Cost300

Increases range by 40

Electromagnetic Shot
Electromagnetic Shot
Cost300

Causes electromagnetic interference on hit, temporarily disabling the target unit's Tech and decreasing its movement speed by 40%

Strategy

As a giant unit, Raiden is usually built either in the late game to cover a neglected DPS role, or as a specific counter to medium units like Sledgehammer or Fire Badger. Unlike all other units that hit multiple targets per volley, Raiden can only attack a unit once per volley. Therefore, although Raiden’s overall DPS per volley may be high, its single-target DPS is low, often leading to poor matchups against single tanky units. Most of Raiden's technologies do not help with this shortcoming: Chain and Fork allow the Raiden to hit additional targets, maintaining the “one hit per unit” restriction, and Electromagnetic Shot greatly restricts the ability for most units to fight back against the Raiden. Ionization, on the other hand, can help against very tanky enemies, but essentially removes the Raiden’s ability to kill medium units by itself in exchange. Strategically, the single-target weakness is often mitigated by simply building a lot of Raiden in one area of the field and relying on a critical mass of levels to kill tanky units.
