MAG1 Season 3
Following the surprises of the Open Season, it was unclear what Season 3 would look like, but it certainly delivered. Once again, 16 top players entered the fray to get their share of the prizepool. Household names Feng Feng and Flower Fairy made it to the semifinals, once again proving the competitive strength of the [201] region. However, two new names joined them, with xTheConclusion [301] and SaraTzchs [401] punching their ticket as well. SaraTzchs’ iconic aggression, involving heavy air and flank investment, did great up to top 4, but eventually got bested by xTheConclusion. Conclusion’s run did not end there, as he then proceeded to take down MAG1 champion Flower Fairy with his aggressive corner War Factory strategy for a chance at the title. Though the Factory strat managed to get some wins in the finals, Feng Feng picked apart any other strat xTheConclusion attempted, eventually winning the match 4-2. Season 3 was characterized by heavy giant gameplay, as Sandworm, Fortress, Vulcan and Melter saw regular play. The corner War Factory strat stood out the most, especially considering its performance against some long-standing top players.
